ABOUT BIOSWALE GABIONS

A "BIOSWALE GABION" is a type of storm water run off conveyance system consisting of crushed rock media packed into wire mesh gabion baskets and designed to remove silt and pollutants in urban environments. They often provide an alternate to storm sewers by trapping sediments and/or pollutants and allows cleaner water to continue in its course to a creek or river. The practice of removing storm water pollutants is generally known as a "best management practice," or BMP, which may be a requirement of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
